Peaches and Cream Porridge

Peaches and Cream Porridge

When I was a kid we used to eat instant Quaker Oat oatmeal - in all the gloriously flavored varieties. "Peaches and Cream" was my favorite. I cringe at the thought of eating that much sugar, artificially flavored ingredients and non-sprouted grain in the morning - not to mention feeding that to my children!

Our blood sugar does so much better with a high fat and protein morning meal after "fasting" overnight, but there is something about the comfort of warm cereal that I crave once in a while...

So I got to work developing this gluten-free recipe - loaded with easy-to-digest sprouted millet and abundant healthy fats to keep you (and your blood sugar) satisfied for the whole morning.

Hormone Healing Gummies

Hormone Healing Gummies

I grew up in Minnesota - the capital of hot-dishes, dessert bars and jello. I don't think I can remember a single birthday party, holiday, school event or other celebration that didn't feature one of the above items (if not all of them together). I've spent many hours re-creating recipes of my childhood with real food ingredients - they not only taste better but also offer many health benefits, such as these gummies (aka: "jello-jigglers).

Clear Heart Fire with Asparagus + Recipe

Clear Heart Fire with Asparagus + Recipe

Asparagus is abundant this time of year, offering a delicious and nutritious addition to various dishes. Additionally, it offers a multitude of potent health benefits for women - from hormone balance to potent anti-cancer qualities. But my favorite reason to love asparagus during the seasonal shift from spring to summer is its affinity for both the liver/gallbladder and heart/small intestine energies within the body - offering a true bridge between the wood (spring) and fire (summer) elements, respectively.

Warm Winter Smoothie Recipe

Warm Winter Smoothie Recipe

Some might call this "soup" - but I like to call it my nourishing, warm winter smoothie! In my last post, we uncovered some of the hazards of regular (frozen) smoothie consumption, and how to consciously create smoothies in service of your health and hormonal goals.

This recipe is a great substitution for a raw smoothie, especially during the cold winter months. It's a pureed blend of a variety of greens and vegetables, nourishing protein, tastes great and when prepared ahead of time can provide a quick reheated meal throughout the week.

But instead of taxing your system, it will bolster the digestive energy, enhance nutrient absorption, offers up cellular renewal to the tissues of the body and combats free-radical damage...full recipe below.

How to Eat a Smoothie

How to Eat a Smoothie

The Metal Element (+ Recipe)

The Metal Element (+ Recipe)

This is an auspicious time of year - for both our physical and spiritual health. Autumn is ruled by the Metal Element, bringing clarity and inspiration, along with grief and vulnerability. It is both cutting and tender, often manifesting in emotional turmoil or decreased immunity. Let's dive in to understand a bit more about the Metal Element as it relates to our health, finishing with one of my favorite Metal Element Recipes: Roasted Pears with Honey.
